Something Worth Remembering
I briefly met with a mentor of mine yesterday. As is wont to happen, she packed a lot into what little time she had and gave me a lot to think about. One bit of career advice she gave me has been running around my head in circles for the last twelve hours or so:
You’re early enough in your career that you can’t make any big mistakes. And, as for the little ones, people are expecting that you make at least some of those—they’re much more interested in how you recover and learn from them. So don’t worry about screwing up, and just put yourself out there.
And now that I’ve put this pearl of wisdom out on my blog instead of keeping it in my own head, I’m counting on the usual suspects to ruthlessly repeat it to me every time I forget. Just like they always do.
