Reckless Recalibration
I really should have gone straight to bed as soon as I posted earlier today. But instead, I got this bright idea that I should fiddle with my computer instead. And you know what? For a while, it actually worked out okay—I got rid of some unnecessary files, cleared the Trash, emptied a bunch of caches, and fixed broken file permissions. It was all good, you know?
But then I made the really idiotic move of calibrating my monitor. Or trying to, anyway. Such a dumb, dumb move. I should have known better to attempt such delicate work when I was having such a bitch of a day. But, because I was dumb, I did it anyway.
And now… well, I’m sure you see where this is going: my monitor’s all funky, and try as I might, I can’t get it back to the pristine factory fresh condition I was aiming for. I tried deleting the latest profile, but to no avail. My contrasts and white balance are still waaaaaay off.
So… can anybody out there tell me how to restore a default monitor calibration on a Powerbook running Mac OS X 10.3.4 (Panther)? I really want to avoid pulling out my install disks if I can get away with it…
