...and life goes on
The Good News: I’m off drugs. I can move without pain now!
The Bad News: I have to make up like a month’s worth of pain-induced procrastination.
The Good News: I get to socialize with friends again! After five weeks, the introverted thing was getting boring, even for me.
The Bad News: I have finals on Tuesday and Wednesday. Which I’ve barely studied for.
The Good News: I leave for the Great Barrier Reef (and scuba lessons!) on Thursday.
The Bad News: My flight leaves at six o’clock. In the morning.
The Good News: I and the friend who I’m going with may be the only students in our ”class” all week long.
The Bad News: I couldn’t find an underwater case for my digital camera that didn’t cost an arm and a leg. And, well, I’d prefer to keep all my extremities safe and well, y’know, use them underwater. The camera’s coming with me, but there probably won’t be anything more spectacular than sunsets. No wrecks. No marine life. Sigh.
The Good News: I finally have photo galleries up for viewing. More to come, especially after next week.
The Bad News: I leave Australia in three weeks.
The Good News: I’ll see my family and friends. And get grandmother-cooked food (yum!).
The Bad News: I leave Australia in three weeks.
The Good News: One of the cousins I’m very close to, who lives in Seoul, will be spending the (Northern Hemisphere) summer with me. I anticipate many movie marathons, late-night discussions about all things serious and silly, road trips throughout the American Northeast, and lots of excuses to eat out at some of my favorite restaurants. (I mean, what else do you do when dealing with someone who’s never been exposed to Mexican/Indian/Afghan/Ethiopian/tapas cuisine except take them out to eat?)
The Bad News: Repatriation is gonna suck; I already know reverse culture shock is going to hit me hard. What else can you think when you find yourself calculating in degrees Celsius, or almost turn to a friend and say ”hey, Homer’s driving on the wrong side of the—!” while watching ”The Simpsons”?
The Good News: But that too shall pass. I’ll have rough days and good days, and life goes on.
